You may remember these Geographics slogans that were used along the way..… Geographics started as the initiator and innovator of the Printable Image Paper and expanded its product line into complementary products like: Foil Stamp Imaging, still available today, Note & Reminder Pads, Designer Poster Board, Stick On Letters, Rub On Letters and Stencils, General Signs for retail stores, business and indoor and outdoor personal use, Ready Made Signs & Universal Signage Symbols.
Later on, Geographics acquired the Domtar and the Z-Graphics designer stationery lines, thus expanding and enhancing its market leadership position in the image paper business. With these acquisitions, the Certificates category became the strongest with its great designs and fine paper base, a unique category in its diversity and sophistication of designs. Geographics was founded in Vancouver, Canada in 1974. Later on, the business moved to Blaine, Washinghton and in 2002, Geographics was acquired by Mafcote Inc, a family business with a tradition of over 100 years, the oldest manufacturer of lace paper doilies, Royal Lace®, and one of the largest paper coaters in the US. Most of the Fluorescent double sided Poster board, the 2CoolColors® Poster board, (a different color on each side) and the Grid Board, are being sold in most retail stores throught USA. Mafcote prides itself in having a few patents in the poster board area and an interesting line of inkjet photo papers.
The Geographics® Brand Image was introduced in 1992.The GeoPaper® was to be a source of high-quality desktop publishing papers. Unique designer business and social stationery printed on high quality 24lb. and 70lb. paper inundated the market through big and small retail stores, making these products widely available and desirable. This was a new concept which was meant for the small businesses who could not afford or care to have business identity or professionally designed logos and for schools and home users who needed a paper they could personalize and print fast, a paper that could enhance their messages. The design paper was meant to attract attention and make a bold statement and it had the advantage that it was a “Do it Yourself” product for use with laser printers, inkjet printers, photocopiers, quick printing and handwriting. The idea was to offer preprinted business sets or ensambles where coordinating designs in letterheads, envelopes, tri-fold brochures, business cards, tent cards, post cards, note cards and mailing labels, would satisfy every business need for paper and collateral materials. The designer stationery for personal use had a large variety of uses from cards and invitations, menus, press releases, resumes, flyers, reports, certificates, diplomas, awards, posters, newsletters, announcements, poems, notices, programs and signs, to notes, memos, correspondence, quotations and more. Also, Geographics offered and still offers a line of Executive Class of unprinted Premium Paper or Fine Paper like Granite, Marble, Parchment, Speckled, Sonora and more.
